Mobile app development

A mobile app is not always the right answer. When it is, it is because your users come back often, need to work without a connection, or need to be notified. Those are the apps we build, for iOS and Android, from a single codebase.

First question: do you actually need one?

It is the first thing we ask, and sometimes the answer is no. A well-built website, installable straight from the browser, covers a lot of needs for a fraction of the budget and without going through store review. We say so when that is the case.

A native app earns its cost when you need the camera, background location, offline operation, push notifications, or a presence on the App Store and Google Play for commercial reasons.

One codebase, two platforms

We build iOS and Android from the same code. In practice that means one development budget instead of two, one change to make when a feature moves, and two apps that do not drift apart over time.

  • The same backend and the same data as your website or internal tool, with no double entry
  • Offline operation, syncing once the connection returns
  • Push notifications, with the consent handling that goes with them
  • Developer accounts, store listings, screenshots and submission: we handle it
  • Updates and fixes after release

Scope and budget

The same as everything else: written scope, fixed-price quote, clickable prototype before development, weekly demo. Apple and Google review each release, which usually takes a few days on top of the build.

App Store and Google Play accounts are opened in your name. The app is yours, including if you hand the next phase to someone else.

Questions fréquentes

Do we need two separate apps?

In the large majority of cases, no. A shared codebase covers iOS and Android with the same performance for a management, booking or tracking app. Separate native development is mainly worth it for games or heavy graphics work.

What does a mobile app cost?

It depends on the number of screens, the integrations, and whether a backend has to be built as well. We price after scoping, as a written fixed amount. An app plugged into a system you already have costs considerably less than a complete product from scratch.

Who handles publishing to the stores?

We prepare the listings, screenshots and metadata, and we do the submission. The developer accounts stay in your name, which guarantees you keep the app whatever happens between us.

What happens after launch?

Apple and Google change their requirements every year, and an unmaintained app eventually gets pulled. We offer a monthly retainer covering technical updates, error monitoring and feature work.
